When do you need an iqama or ID translation?
Your iqama or national ID proves who you are and your legal status in the Kingdom, but it is issued in Arabic. When you deal with an authority outside Saudi Arabia, or an international body inside it, you will usually be asked for a certified English translation. These are the situations we see most often from clients in Al Khobar, Dammam and Dhahran:
- Visa applications. Many visa centres, including those handling Schengen applications, ask applicants to prove legal residence in the country where they apply. For residents, that means a translated iqama.
- Family matters and schooling. Proof of the family’s residence when enrolling children in international schools or applying for programmes outside the Kingdom.
- Dealing with your home country. Banks, government offices or employers back home that need proof of your residence and employment in Saudi Arabia.
- Company and employee files. Contractors and suppliers in the Eastern Province often attach translated employee iqamas to registration or contract files for international clients.
- Study and work abroad. Foreign universities and employers sometimes request proof of current residence as part of an application.
Saudi citizens are often asked for a translated national ID in study, medical and travel files. A translated passport data page is sometimes requested alongside other documents so that names can be matched across the file.

Why an iqama translation can get a file rejected
An iqama is a single page, so it looks simple. Yet small mistakes on it are among the most common and most costly:
- Name spelling that doesn’t match the passport, such as “Mohammed” on one document and “Muhammad” on another.
- Hijri and Gregorian dates mixed up, or converted incorrectly.
- One wrong digit in the iqama number or border number.
- An occupation or employer name translated differently from the employment contract or salary certificate in the same file.
That is why we match names to your passport, reproduce dates exactly as they appear on the original, and have a second translator check every number and date before the stamp goes on. If your name already has an approved spelling on earlier documents, send it with your order.

Some authorities insist on a copy of the physical card, so check the receiving authority’s requirements first.

Does the one hour start when I send the photo?
The clock runs from the moment a readable photo is in and you have said go ahead. If the image is not legible, we will ask for a clearer one first.
Do I need to bring the original iqama?
A clear image is enough for the translation. Some authorities want the translation compared with the original or attached to a copy of it, so check what the receiving authority requires.
Can you translate my iqama into languages other than English?
Yes, in both directions, African languages included; mention the language and your quote will give the timing.
